Ending Linguistic Manipulation by Speaking Freely
January 17, 2023
By Emmie Cromwell - The overwhelming nature of that to which I am most dedicated has taken its toll on my optimism. But despite a more limited reserve, I am still hopeful that my words can make a difference. The challenge continues to be expressing opinions that do not align with society’s current narrative. The consensus of those who are most outspoken is that conservatives require compliance with their beliefs. But based on the conservatives with whom I am most familiar, there is a clear understanding that disagreement holds significant importance in a healthy democracy. Unfortunately, the mindset of those who currently hold power is that opinions such as mine are definitively incorrect and potentially dangerous. This is being sold as undeniable truth by the government and media; creating an obstacle that could be deemed too ominous to overcome.
Delving into politics after forty years of political ignorance, simply to express my concerns about Covid-19 therapeutics, was a blind endeavor. There seems no way by which I could have understood the depths of corruption that extend well beyond our government’s gross mishandling of all things Covid.
With the passing of a few years, it is clear that the malfeasance forced upon citizens by our government during Covid lock downs was a result of something that has been simmering below the surface for decades. Seeing the big picture took time, requiring an uptake of knowledge beyond that of Covid-19. Unfortunately, upon a sense of enlightenment, relief from that which we are currently plagued, seems even more daunting.
I have, for several months, been trying to pinpoint the origin of our most dominant societal problems. From an outsider’s perspective, these matters seem quite separate. How do Covid issues relate to gender ideology? And how do either relate to the government’s demonization of a population it is meant to serve?
My best conclusion is that we are dealing with an ideological collective that has been gaining strength; one that now resides within many of our country’s most powerful leaders. This ideology opposes that on which democracy relies; most notably, common sense and morality?
What I am going to say next may sound like the words of a conspiracy theorist, but all one needs to do is connect the dots. This ideology begins in colleges and universities and is most prominent in the studies of women, gender, and sexuality. If you do a comparison, their ideology aligns quite well with, not only our most powerful leaders, but with many who hold power throughout the world. Women, gender, and sexuality studies are at the core of woke ideology; taught by those who impress their philosophical beliefs on a young, impressionable population that buys into these beliefs as fact. It is a philosophy that dominates all things, including science. And it is the root of what I deem the most dangerous trend that exists today, linguistic manipulation. This teaching has, historically, been of great importance to those who wish to eliminate free thinking. It is a necessity for the birth of totalitarianism. Linguistic rules have always been a sign of impending danger. As much as some may want to deny this, there is no way totalitarianism comes to fruition without some form of linguistic manipulation .
For those who believe our country is incapable of such demise, think about the recent demands on language with which most have blindly complied. Based on the laws of common sense that were prevalent only a decade ago, these demands have been methodical and increasingly absurd. Despite one’s belief in the impossibility of totalitarianism, there have been cases of such dominance on many occasions; some of which continue today. We are not exempt. As much as I’d like to believe it, there is no denying that our freedoms are being infringed upon; an infringement that has many citizens of the US and likely throughout the world feeling claustrophobic.
I ask that those who recognize truth in my words remember that compliance to linguistic demands is not yet law in the United States. This manipulation comes in many forms, some of which are enforced by labeling words and phrases as virtuous or as critical to the happiness of others. But it is not the job of our government and media to force upon us their opinions of what is virtuous. And it is not our responsibility to affirm the beliefs of others. We must recognize the manipulation that is a necessity for the survival of woke ideology and defeat it by the simple act of speaking freely. This is how democracy will, once again, thrive.
